About

I studied finance as an undergraduate and applied financial mathematics for my master’s at the University of Connecticut. After graduating I traded FX remotely for a prop firm, then spent three years as a sales analyst at DHL in China, followed by sector research and futures strategy work at two investment firms.

Since 2022 I have done quant research independently. My early, parameter-optimized strategies failed out of sample, so I adopted the validation methods of López de Prado’s Advances in Financial Machine Learning and built my own research framework. Its most valuable output has been telling me honestly which strategies should never go live.

Over the past two years I have used AI coding agents to ship complete products on my own: a habit-tracking app on the App Store, and a booking and smart-lock access system built pro bono for a church. I start from a written spec and plan, then build in small steps, each with tests and review.

I am a Christian. Since 2019 I have served at my church every week, including on its church committee and leading its childcare program.

I am based in Hangzhou and available for remote work, per project or monthly.
